Being Poor in Spirit

December 30th, 2016 – Feast of the Holy Family

A Family that is Poor in Spirit, is a Happy Family

The Beatitudes are the successor to the Ten Commandments, the fulfillment of the Law given by God to his people.  The Rich Young Man approaches Jesus and asks what he must do to inherit eternal life and Jesus tells him to observe the (Ten) Commandments, to which the Rich Young Man replies, I have done so since my youth.   But the ...

Only the Good Die Young

Being the Servant of Others

Posted by:

“To maintain a joyful family requires much from both the parents and the children. Each member of the family has to become, in a special way, the servant of the others.” St. John Paul II Homily October 7, 1979

On Holy Thursday, the Gospel recalls the washing of the feet of the Apostles by Jesus.  He instructs the Apostles to do the same.  While there are many truths to be learned from this scene in St. John’s Gospel, we will ...
